Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese praised the courage of Ahmed Ahmed, who tackled one of the Sydney attackers from behind, adding that the scene was "the most incredible thing I've seen in my life," referring to the viral video showing Ahmed intervening against the armed assailant. Albanese added: "A man walks towards an armed shooter who has fired on people, disarms him single-handedly, putting his life on the line to save countless lives." He continued that this man is "a true hero, and I have no doubt that many are alive today because of his courage." During the bloody attack on Bondi Beach in the Australian city of Sydney, a man in a distinctive white shirt was seen tackling one of the attackers from behind, disarming him and pointing the weapon at him to prevent him from continuing his assault. Ahmed was shot by a second attacker positioned on a nearby bridge, sustaining two bullet wounds to his shoulder and hand. The man became an overnight sensation after the video spread across social media, earning him the title "Sydney hero." Australia's Seven Network revealed the hero's identity, identifying him as a 43-year-old Muslim man named Ahmed Ahmed, who was shot twice during the incident and was taken to hospital for surgery. Ahmed is a father of two and owns a fruit shop in Sutherland, and he was passing by the scene of the attack when it occurred, according to his cousin Mustafa, who spoke to the Seven Network.
