Major Expansion by Dnata at Melbourne Airport

The company "Danata for Ground Handling and Cargo Operations" has begun the implementation of a large expansion of its contemporary facilities at Melbourne Airport for a total of up to 50 million Australian dollars. The project's aim is to increase the company's capability to satisfy the growing needs of its clientele through innovative solutions in ground handling and cargo operations, as well as strengthening its position as a leading company in the aircraft servicing area in Australia.

According to the company, the new project will add an existing facility from "Danata" of 5,700 square meters, increasing the total area to over 16,000 square meters, which makes it the largest center for servicing airlines in Victoria with a production capacity of up to 25 million meals annually. It is planned that the new construction will begin operations in September 2026.

Currently, "Danata" services at Melbourne 20 airlines with a team of 1,000 employees, which facilitates the provision of an unprecedented level of service to the board of more than 60,000 flights each year. Speaking about the expansion in Melbourne, the acting director of the regional branch of "Danata for Ground Handling and Cargo Operations" in Asia and the Pacific region Herangan Aloisius noted that this significant expansion is an important step in the company's continual growth. It will allow the company to address the increasing demand for high-quality service, create new jobs, and stimulate growth related to it in the industry.

Director for freight, real estate, and ground handling at Melbourne Airport Jay McDermott noted that this is a significant achievement in the long-term partnership between "Danata" and Melbourne Airport, which, along with the expansion, will ensure better interaction and synchronization of the company's processes with the airport to ensure growth on both sides.

The expansion of "Danata" in Melbourne underlines its ongoing commitment to strengthening its presence and service in Australia. It is expected that planned investments in the company's infrastructure totaling 80 million Australian dollars will create more than 300 new jobs in the coming three years and also contribute to the creation of indirect jobs through partnerships with local suppliers. As of today, "Danata" services more than 40 airlines at nine airports in Australia through a team of over 4,000 specialists in the hospitality sector.
