The Spanish rider Marc Márquez secured victory at the Australian Grand Prix, achieving his third win of the MotoGP season. The podium was completed by Spanish Jorge Martín and Italian Francesco Bagnaia, who are in the title fight.
Márquez, a six-time champion in the category, faced a setback, falling from second to thirteenth place at the start of the race due to his rear wheel slipping on a piece of plastic on the track. However, the Ducati rider quickly recovered and was back among the top five competitors within a few laps.
After an intense battle, Marc Márquez managed to overtake leader Jorge Martín with three laps remaining to cross the finish line in first place, securing another victory in the season, his third so far. Previously, Márquez triumphed at the Aragón and San Marino Grands Prix.
In addition to the three podium finishers, several riders scored points in the race held at Phillip Island, Australia, including Fabio Di Giannantonio, Enea Bastianini, and Maverick Viñales. Regarding the championship battle, Jorge Martín leads with 424 points, followed by Francesco Bagnaia with a 20-point gap.
Despite Martín's lead, the championship competition is open since three Grands Prix remain, and numerous points are at stake. The next race will be in Thailand on October 27, followed by Malaysia on November 3, with the season concluding in Valencia two weeks later.
The current positions in the MotoGP championship are as follows: Jorge Martín with 424 points, Francesco Bagnaia with 404, Marc Márquez with 345, Enea Bastianini with 331, and Brad Binder with 192.
