The Italo-Argentine driver, Mattia Colnaghi, racing for the Dutch team, finished tenth in the Australian Grand Prix of Formula 3, scoring his first point in the category.
According to the Argentine News Agency, the 17-year-old driver started in sixth place but lost several positions during the race at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne, Australia, where the Formula 1 and 2 Grands Prix will also be held.
On lap 6, two of his rivals overtook him, relegating him to ninth place. Colnaghi regained his eighth-place position on lap 8 when Italian driver Brando Badoer spun. This incident forced the Safety Car to enter the track to remove the European's car and stop the race with 11 laps to go.
At that moment, Colnaghi held his position, but his tires began to lose grip, and he was relegated to 13th place. The Safety Car was deployed again with two laps to go due to an accident involving Woohyun Shin.
The race was not restarted, with American Ugo Ugochukwu taking the victory, followed by his British teammate Freddie Slatery and Japanese driver Taito Kato. Colnaghi finished thirteenth but was promoted to tenth place due to penalties to three of his rivals, thus earning a point in his debut.
