Formula 1 kicks off its 2025 season this weekend with the Australian Grand Prix, which will take place at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne. Until 2021, the first race was usually in Bahrain, but this year the championship will start in Australia.
One of the most notable changes is the absence of a Mexican driver on the grid, with the departure of Sergio 'Checo' Pérez from Red Bull. However, fans will be able to see Lewis Hamilton sporting Ferrari colors. In addition, this season brings a series of talented new drivers, such as Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, Jack Doohan, Isack Hadjar, and Gabriel Bortoleto.
One of the drivers that will attract attention is Liam Lawson, the New Zealander who will replace 'Checo' Pérez at Red Bull. Lawson has expressed that he feels like a rookie, as he will be competing on unfamiliar tracks. Alongside four-time champion Max Verstappen, he will seek to perform well in a team that has focused its efforts on supporting Verstappen.
The Australian Grand Prix will take place on Saturday, March 15 at 22:00 (central Mexico time), although activities will begin on Thursday. There will be three practice sessions before qualifying on March 14 and the race the following day. In Mexico, the live broadcast of F1 will be available through Fox Sports and F1 TV.
The Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne is known for its length of 5.278 km and consists of 58 laps. Max Verstappen set a record by averaging over 250 km/h in the 2024 pole, making this circuit one of the fastest on the F1 calendar. The first Grand Prix at this circuit was held in 1996 and has since been the scene of exciting races. Let the race week begin!
