Djokovic Rejects Interview After Offensive Comments

Novak Djokovic achieved victory over Jano Lenard Struff, winning three sets. After the victory, the Serbian coach's decision was more unfortunate than successful.

Australian presenter Tony Jones apologized in front of Novak Djokovic and his fans for the scandalous and aggressive comments he made last week. Djokovic declined to conduct the usual interview on court after the victory in the quarterfinals over Jano Lenard Struff a few days ago, waiting for public apologies from Jones and the Australian channel Nine, which holds the rights to broadcast major tournaments.

Jones reportedly apologized to Djokovic and Serbian fans, calling the 24-title holder in four major tournaments "overrated" and "past his prime." He stated that his comments were all just a joke and he is being called out by Djokovic. Jones addressed Serbian fans and said, "Welcome back to Melbourne Park, where you can see Novak Djokovic fans, their loud voices, and their singular cheers," and then, turning to them, he said, "Novak, you are valued too highly. In any case, let’s return to the tennis match." After that, he added, "Guys, glad they didn’t hear me. Get Novak out of here".

A journalist from the Nine channel, Tony Jones, apologized in front of Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic after he, as the second seed, refused to give an interview on court due to the mockery by the journalist and Serbian fans.
