President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Middle East, describing the situation as "delicate" for global energy supply chains. Speaking alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Canberra, she stated: "We all feel the side effects of gas and oil prices in our businesses and communities." She added that a "negotiated solution" must be reached "to put an end to the hostilities we are witnessing in the Middle East."
