Study Shows Rising Death Rates from Heat Waves in Australia

Research conducted at the University of Queensland in Australia indicates a 20% increase in mortality due to extreme heat as a result of climate change caused by human activity.

The study found that by the end of the century, the effects of extreme heat will be fatal for thousands of people. Under exceptionally high temperatures, the risk of premature death significantly increases.

The heat and mortality prediction program, based on weather forecasts, could significantly reduce potential victims, researchers claim.

"Our research shows that the risk of premature death due to heat is already higher than we thought, and these risks will continue to rise in the future," noted one of the authors of the study.
