Yesterday, off the coast of Australia, a lone swimmer was rescued by a boat from a Lithuanian sailor who was trying to attract attention to the war in Ukraine after he had an encounter with a tropical storm, prompting Australian rescue services to be deployed. According to reports, swimmer Orimas Mokus was rescued off the coast of the Coral Sea and is in good condition. At that time, a tropical storm named "Alfred" generated waves up to seven meters high and winds with a speed of more than 100 kilometers per hour.
Orimas Mokus began his 12-thousand-kilometer journey on a kayak from a location between California and Brisbane in Australia last September. According to his website, the kayak was made by a Ukrainian craftsman. The swimmer activated a distress signal last Friday evening when he was approaching his destination, and he had to spend three nights at sea before being rescued by the Australian maritime service, as the storm did not allow rescue groups to reach him.
