Sydney, AFP — Jordan Boos scored a late goal that gave the Australian national team a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cameroon in a friendly match at Stadium Australia, as part of the team's preparations for the 2026 World Cup. Earlier, Hrustich missed a penalty, but it didn't prevent the team from achieving a win that boosts confidence after two previous losses to Venezuela and Colombia. Australia's coach, Tony Popovich, used the match to test less experienced players, most notably defender Lucas Herrington (18 years old) and forward Dean. The match was a modest affair with few chances throughout the first half before Boos scored the winning goal five minutes from the end.
