Sinner and Shelton Reach Australian Open Semis

The Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner (1st) and the American Ben Shelton (21st) advanced to the semifinals of the Australian Open after defeating Alex De Minaur (8th) and Lorenzo Sonego respectively. Sinner, the reigning champion and world number 1, dominated his match against De Minaur with a score of 6-3, 6-2, and 6-1 in less than two hours, extending his streak of 20 consecutive wins in various tournaments.

As for De Minaur, he became the first Australian to reach the quarter-finals in this tournament since 2015, nearing the top 5. On the other hand, Ben Shelton will face Sinner in the semifinals after defeating Sonego in four sets.

In the women's branch, the Polish Iga Swiatek (2nd) remains strong in the Australian Open after decisively winning against Emma Navarro (8th) by 6-1 and 6-2 in the quarter-finals. Swiatek will face Madyson Keys in the next round, while the other semifinal will be between Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa. Both women's semifinals will be played this Thursday morning.
