Medvedev Reaches Brisbane Final

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev reached the Brisbane ATP final with a solid and convincing performance by defeating American Alex Michelsen 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinals. The former world number one will play for the title this Sunday against Brandon Nakashima in what will be the year's first final on the circuit. Medvedev showed his class in key moments and once again confirmed his strong start to the season. Although he started with some doubts and lost an early break, Medvedev reacted authoritatively, quickly recovered, and took the first set thanks to his solid baseline play and precise game reading. In the second set, the domination was even more marked. Medvedev raised the intensity, broke twice, and left virtually no room for Michelsen to react, who was never able to impose his power. On the other side of the draw, Nakashima sealed his place in the final by defeating his compatriot Aleksandar Kovacevic 7-6(4), 6-4. The American had a perfect week in Brisbane, with four consecutive wins without dropping a set to reach his fourth career ATP final and his first since San Diego 2022. It will be a duel with favorable head-to-head records for Medvedev, who leads 2-0, with victories in Indian Wells 2023 and Madrid 2025.
