Although he is far from his best historical position, which was 13th, he had a great week that allows him to compete again in the top positions of the world ranking. On his way to the grand final, Machac had previously defeated Australian James Duckworth (6-3 and 6-3), Frenchman Quentin Halys (6-4 and 6-2), Spaniard Jaume Munar (6-4 and 6-4), and American Tommy Paul (2-6, 6-3 and 6-3).
